'99-'14 Full Size GM/Chevy Truck Plug & Play Harness Installation

(0:00) Okay, if you've got the switchback bar, the animated startup with amber turn, (0:06) or the animated startup with white turn, they're all going to come with this harness. (0:12) So just undo the little twist tie, and this thing has two resistors on it and (0:27) three input plugs and two output plugs. When you stretch it out, (0:31) you can kind of lay it across your grill like this.

Generally, we recommend the two of these (0:39) that are closer together to be on the driver's side, and then the one that's by itself on the (0:44) passenger side. So the two that are closer together, one of them is a three wire, and one (0:49) of them is a two wire. If you see the wire cut off there, just don't worry about it.

That's what we (0:54) do here in house, because you only need two wires for the daytime running light. So it's not that (0:59) there's some kind of defect. So on these, once you've removed your headlights and your parking (1:03) lights, you want to take the included grease.

So we've already done it here, but just fill (1:10) that cavity with grease and take that three wire plug and match it up to your factory socket. (1:17) And you want to make sure that the black wire of our plug goes to the black wire of your factory (1:23) plug. So when you plug that in, you should feel it kind of give a little click.

So you know that's (1:28) in place. And then same thing for the daytime running light. Now, if your socket looks like this (1:36) one, you can see there's a little bit of rust and corrosion in there.

Get like a small screwdriver (1:42) or something like that and clean that off. Again, you want nice clean, bare metal for these things (1:48) to make contact to. Otherwise it'll give you some issues and maybe the bar won't work correctly or (1:53) something like that.

But you want to make sure that the contacts inside your factory sockets (1:57) are nice and clean. Once they are, again, fill it with grease. (2:02) Make sure that you've got black to black and click that guy in place.

(2:12) Then the other side (2:16) is the same process, except you've only got one to do this time. (2:20) Again, three wire to three wire, black to black, click it in place. Now for all three of those, (2:28) you'll take your factory turn signal bulbs, whether you're running the factory incandescent bulbs, (2:34) or if you've got LEDs, now's a great time if you want to grab some of our 3157 switchback LEDs, (2:40) make a great fit in here and match perfectly to the grill bar.

Those will fit right in. You can (2:44) run whatever type of bulb you want. Because you have this resistor, you can run an LED or (2:51) something like that and the truck won't care.

These resistors, if you recall, (2:57) we had the self-drilling Phillips head screws. You can see we've already got one mounted here. (3:03) These resistors won't get very hot because they only have power when you hit your turn signal.

(3:08) It's okay to screw them directly to this plastic frame that holds your lights. (3:14) You can just screw it straight to that guy and then it's up out of the way. Or if you want to (3:20) use some zip ties or something like that and just zip tie it, that's fine too.

However you want to (3:25) secure these resistors, just mount those up somewhere so they're out of the way and not (3:28) banging around on something. As I said, you put your bulbs back in here and then those go back (3:34) into whatever parking light assemblies you're running. In the middle, these two plugs should (3:42) already be plugged into the grill bar, whichever bar you have.

It'll be the white and black wired (3:52) plug is what provides power. That should go to the plug on the bar that has a red and black wire. (3:59) So it'd be red to white and black to black.

The two with yellow on either side, those are for (4:05) your turn signal. Now, if you install this, once you've installed it, hop in the truck, turn it on, (4:10) test everything and hit your turn signals one at a time and make sure that the left turn signal (4:18) activates the left bar and right to right. If it doesn't, the easiest fix is to unplug this (4:24) wire with the yellow plugs, flip it over and plug it back in and that will switch them around.

(4:31) If you're worried about it shaking loose, you can just take a zip tie and zip tie that guy (4:34) together so it doesn't fall loose. Next, we'll look at the show bar.
