Capacitor Walkthrough for Grille Bar Installation

okay so the fix for the turn signals on the 2.0 Grill bars uh we were initially told that this capacitor would be the fix um what I've found out since then is that the capacitor has to be able to provide Power to only the grill bar turn signal circuit if you don't isolate it it will it will power the grill bar and whatever bulb you have so the rest of the entire turn signal circuit and it'll discharge too quickly and doesn't fix the blinking problem that we see on some of these new re Ford trucks and stuff like that so the fix for that is this diode think of this as an electrical check valve and it means current can go this direction in the direction of so the out would be where the silver line is um and then that will prevent electricity from flowing back this way and so if we put that in line right here and then put the capacitor Downstream of that diode then the capacitor will only discharge to the grill bar turn signal

circuit and will not discharge into your car's um turn signal circuit so the fix will look like this however if you've got if you've tapped into your the blue wire represents the vehicle's turn signal circuit and if you've tapped into it with your capacitor and the turn signal for your grill bar what you'll want to do is cut this one off just as short as possible and you're going to leave this splice alone maybe wrap some electrical tape around it or something if you want to um but then you're going to come over here just somewhere between this splice and the turn signal for the grill bar you want to take your diode and I usually trim off some of the excess on these things and they will fit inside these red butt connectors that are heat shrink style connectors and so you want to crimp that on again make sure that the silver goes toward the grill bar so all we got to do is strip your supply wire back run that in there

and you'll crimp it down and then the output so remember the output of this thing is is where the silver line is you'll take another butt connector um and you can trim it down if you need to whatever you got to do to to make it fit on there and it kind of encapsulates diode nicely and then now this output is where the positive wire of the capacitor and the supply for your your turn signal to the grill bar connect to the output of the diode now when you hit your turn signal and power comes from the turn signal switch or wherever to go feed your factory turn signal and then power also will feed through the diode charge the capacitor and when you when the turn signal turns off the capacitor will discharge its energy that it stores and it can only discharge to the grill bar and that will make that work so that's the fix
